I created this blog to share my pilgrimage of natural hair. My Sisterlocks were installed 7/15/03 with 2 inches of my natural hair & since then I have learned to love every part of me. My journey has also inspired me to get to know my loose natural hair so on 7/16/2011 my Locktician cut my Sisterlocks off & my new journey began. I hope this blog inspires you to embrace your hair in a way you never have before.
*Let your LIGHT shine and your NATURAL HAIR flow!*
6 years have come and I am still loving my locks!!! I can't believe that I started with 2 inches of hair 6 years ago, and this is the result after 6 years. All I can say is WOW!!!!
Lovely! They look so healthy and strong! I especially love the braidouts on your hair and I can't wait until my hair reaches your length to do the same. How do you get your crinkles to stay?
Napp Town- Thank you, I can't believe it has been 6 years.
Felicia- Thanks, I having been trying to keep this blog up but Facebook has been drawing my attention (LOL)
Dewdrop- Thank you. For the crinkles, I braid my hair in medium size braids after I wash it and I try to keep it braided for at least 24 hours, the longer I can keep the braids in the longer the crinkles will stay.
Hi Tanya, thank you twice. Girl, it is been more easy then I thought maintain the weight loss. I am by nature very disciplined, so it may be easier for me then others but basically I have: 1. Cut my calorie intake in half, I am 5'7 and I only need to take in a maximum of 1700 calories to maintain my weight loss, so I try to never go over that, which means I do not snack at all through out the day. I eat an apple for breakfast, Lean Cuisine meal for lunch with fruit and pita chips (they are baked so much healthier), and eat a sensible meal, and then after dinner I allow myself one dessert, ANYTHING I want (smile), so that is where I splurge. Also, I cut out drinking any drinks with sugar. I stick to water or diet drinks made with splenda. Finally, I work out on the elliptical 3 times a week, but I have been slacking a little in that area so I feel in the blanks by walking, doing crunches etc. I feel great, sleep better, and just have a overall better feeling :) I hope this helps.
You and your hair are absolutely beautiful. I am getting SL'd in two weeks and can't wait!! I hope mine look as great as yours when they mature. I'm also going to try some of your weight loss tips.
You have inspired me. I am about 1-2 inches in length (3 weeks SL). I am eager for some length. Now I know that all I have to do is wait. Thanks for inspiring with your pictures and words.
Wow, thanks so much for sharing on yr 6-yr anniversary! These pics are amazing and remind me that with Sisterlocks, the journey just keeps getting better. YAAAY for us! :-)
Congrats on 6 yrs! Starting with two inches and growing to such a long beautiful length is probably unbelievable! I was telling my cousin today that this is the LONGEST my hair has ever been in my life. Something I would have never expected to see in my lifetime. It's amazing!
Continue to encourage other and tell your story! Much blessings to you!!
I always look forward to your updates! Your pictures always inspire me to not get frustrated and continue with my sisterlock journey! Your locks are beautiful!
Sogolocs (Sonia)- I apologize, I missed your question about roller setting....girl, I have not done a roller-set in a while, because I could not get through my entire head. What I did last time, which was about a year ago is roller set the top of my hair, and braid the back. Roller-sets take too long and they are too painful :( I am sad because I really love the roller set look on my locks. Maybe some day I will try it again.
You're a very empower lady. Today I heard about sisterlock extensions on YouTube/blogs. Do you know about this or do you know anyone that has it done to their sisterlocks? Is it safe for the locks/fall off? I'm not too sure... Thanks sis! xox
Anonymous- Thank you, I am so happy to hear that you have been encouraged :) Regarding Sisterlock extensions, I do not know how they work and I do not know anyone who has uses them. Sorry.
I think some took the words right out of my mouth, "WoW! I am about to call and have my hair done, of course on my next payday. I love your locs. I have seen the many women with Sisterlocks and they look so relaxed and confident. I love it. I may talk my mother into getting them also.
