"Attack of the killer LINT"

Is it just me or is anyone else suffering with Lint throughout your locks? I am constantly having to pull/cut lint from the ends of my locks even after I have washed them thoroughly and now I am having to pull or cut the lint from within my locks, which has never been a problem. I cover my hair every night with a satin hair wrap and I hardly ever wear sweaters or any piece of clothing with a lot of lint. So where the heck is all of this lint coming from?

Help!!! If you have problems with lint please give me some suggestions on what I can do?

Hi Abena,

I am newly locked and I seem to be having the same problem. I can't remember who's blog I was reading, but I know of one sister who does a daily ritual of "dry cleaning". She uses a regular lint roller and removes the excess lint from her hair everyday. I hope that helps :-)

Hi Abena,
I am SL'd for 21 months and I have lint also. Remember lots of shirs have linty insides even if the outside looks smooth, also pulling clothes from the dryer, hats, coats and towels also have lint to which our hair seems like a magnet.:-) I know Brunsli wrote about coloring hers with a Sharpie which I've done for some, others I've "brushed" out with a soft brush or carful tweezing. Good luck. -Monique

Kwasmrs- Hmmm...a lint roller, I would think that would pull hair as well...I don't know, I guess there are some that are less harsh. I will have to check it out when I go back to the store.

Monique- Yes, I thought about using a soft brush, I need to go buy one, because once I got Sisterlocked over 4 years ago, I threw away everything :) And Brunsli's idea about a sharpie, hmmmm....that's interesting.

Thank you both for the input!

Apply Dark & Lovely's Almond Rain Oil Mist It darkens the lint so it appears as if it's not there.

I have not had problems with lint persay but I have occassionally saw lint strands in my hair or maybe it was some grey:(...I have heard people say that they use tweezers to get the lint out.. Hope this helps.

Are you sure it's lint and not dandruff. If it's at the tips of your locks lint sounds like the culprit. But if it's starting at the base where your new growth is coming in..it may be dandruff. Dandruff is such a tough little rascal to get out.

Valenciajaz- Hmmm..that is interesting, thanks for the input and suggestions.

Cherie- thanks sis, I heard about the tweezers-

Tanya- No, I am very sure that it is lint. I had a war with dandruff in my first year of locks, and thank God that is over.

I had a response from a sister about "the killer Lint," that I wanted to share with you all who may be battling with it as well.

She said to keep your hair covered at night and also keep it covered while you are getting dressed because as you are pulling out clothes, towels etc, lint flies around but if your hair is still covered you have a better chance of not getting lint in it. I thought it was a great suggestion.

Ugh, lint.

I recently wrote a post about it that Monique posted about:

http://brunsli.blogspot.com/2007/10/i-am-so-over-my-hair-part-v.html

and if you click the lint post on my blog there are 13 other posts that mention lint. (13??)

Coobdujur- I am so happy that you found my blog and I am sad that you are experiencing the same problem, but thank God for forums where we can get ideas from the Locking world :)

Glad to see this post and the responses. I too, am having a bit of a tough time with lints at the moment. I'll try the tweezing but I usually just dye them lol
