So Beautiful. I love the white blouse with the white background. I don't notice a thin hairline from the pictures.

Hi Abena,

I love your blog! Your locks are gorgeous!

I will be sisterloc'd soon! (Waiting for my consultant to schedule the locking sessions.)

Do you have any suggestions for a Sisterlock survival kit? Other than the official Sisterlock starter kit/products, what products do you wish you had on hand when you were first loc'd (e.g., SoftSpikes, microfiber towel, rods, styling products)? Please let me know.

I want to be prepared for proper styling and maintenance immediately after my locking sessions.

Thanks,

MeDivine

MeDivine- Thank you so much for the compliment :) To be honest, I would stick to the Starter Kit and what your Loctician tells you to do regarding your locks. The early stages of being locked is very critical and I followed everything my Loctician told me. I did not add anything to my hair but the Sisterlock Shampoo, it was hard, but in the long run it was worth it because it gave me a great foundation for my locks. After about 1yr, I was able to use a couple of other products, but it was still minimal because my hair was not still fully locked, it actually took at least 2 full years for my hair to fully lock all over.

Ok, with that said, one of the items I could use and I used all of the time was:

1. Hard-rod rollers (it gave my hair a curl that lasted at least 2weeks)
2. Sponge Rollers (after 1 year)

Items I would have used if I knew about them when I first got locked:

1. Microfiber towel
2. Lavendar water (you can get this from Trader Joes)- it gives the locks a nice smell

I hope this helps and I look forward to following your lock journey.
