OT "The Challenge"

"The Challenge"
Ever since a friend sent me this photo I have been encouraged to attempt to get back to my high school weight. I know to some of you that may sound crazy or even impossible, but I was an athlete in high school and college therefore I am much more comfortable in a smaller frame and fortunately I don't have that far to go :) So, I have decided to challenge myself. Since my high school reunion is coming up this year and my birthday is around the same time, I decided to give myself 6 weeks from August 1, 2010 (until my birthday) to lose 13 pounds and that would put me at my high school weight.

My Plan to lose 13 pounds in 6 weeks (All of these things I have already been doing for the past 3 years to maintain a healthy weight but I have to admit I have to get more serious about my workouts)
1. Continue to monitor my caloric intake, based on the website I am using in order to lose 1-2 pounds a week I need to take in between 1100-1440 calories.
2. Work out at least 3 times a week (This is the area I need to improve in).
3. Eat less sweets (My weakness).
4. Weigh myself every morning and every night to monitor my progress.
5. Pray and ask for God's assistance during the process.
6. Stay encouraged and excited about the FAN-TAS-TIC results.

Diet blog has been a good source for me. It enables you to type in your height, weight, and work out schedule and it will give you suggestions on how many calories you need to take in to maintain a healthy weight or to lose weight. It will also suggest how often you should work out based on your height, weight, and lifestyle.

For those of you who would like to take on your own personal challenge I would be happy to share other tools I have used to mantain a 30 pound weight loss. If you have followed my blog for some time, you will remember that back in January 2007 the doctor informed me that I was 14 pounds overweight and my intense back pain and sciatica would get worse if I did not lose at least 14 pounds so I decided to double it and lose 30 pounds because back pain and sciatica is NO JOKE!!! By April 2007, I had lost 30 pounds and I have maintained 25 pounds of that since April of 2007 and I have felt so good over the years and the sciatica has never returned.

If you plan to take on your own personal challenge, NEVER GIVE UP! GO OVER, GO UNDER, GO AROUND, OR GO THROUGH, BUT NEVER GIVE UP!!! YOU CAN DO IT IF YOU SET YOUR MIND TO DO IT!!!

That is wonderful. My goal is AT LEAST 60 pounds by Christmas!!! Wow I wish I was as close!!! Congratulations and have fun at your reunion!

Your weight looks perfect. I hope you make your goal, but if you don't you look smashing anyway, the women are already going to be envious of you. I am working on my weight loss goal too. Trying to lose 20 by Christmas, and I will post a picture then. That will be a total lose of 40 lbs, and it has been hard....Thanks for all the tips too. Your hair is inspiring. I want my about that length. I love the bangs. Blessings as always.

Hey Abena,

I am down a total of 20 lbs. The goal is 30 lbs by Christmas. I will send you a picture through email, just for you. I wanted to let you know because you have been my inspiration and a vessel in the progress. Weighing myself has helped a lot because carbs make me gain weigh like crazy. Cut the carbs back and the weight is falling off. I never thought to weigh myself a few times a day. Email me if you have time Sogo40@sbcglobal.net
