"What is the meaning of Christmas to you?"

Thomas Kinkade "Christmas Evening"
Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year for many reasons. One it is a time set aside for Christians to celebrate the birth of our wonderful Savior Jesus Christ. Also, Christmas is a time to share and give to those you love in a special way. Christmas is a time to reflect on the many blessings that our Father God has bestowed upon us. Finally, it is also a time to apprecitate and enjoy your family, friends, church, colleagues etc. For me Christmas is the one season that everyone appears to be especially warm and nice and I love that!
  • Now please tell me what Christmas means to you?
  • Also, if you have any family traditions that you would like to share with us all?
I truly wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Christmas is a time to reflect on Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christmas. I know some people think of it as a commercial holiday, but I think we sometimes forget the real meaning behind it. My family just PRAISE THE LORD, just because he is so powerful, wonderful and forgiving. We usually spend Christmas Eve, playing boardgames into the wee hours of the night and the kids wake up at the crack of dawn to open their gifts. If the weather permits we spend New Years Eve at watchnight service Or playing boardgames to usher in the new years. We believe that the way you start the year has alot to do with the way you will spend the new year. So I like to have my family and friends around.

Christmas is a special time for us as well. I am truly thankful for the gift of Christ coming to us in the womb of a woman to give to each of us eternal life.
The creator coming and enduring the hardships of this life for us his created!! Our Christmas tradition for 22 years has included everyone in our family and others (ie students in town away from their families) coming to our house for potluck Christmas dinner. Often we have 20-25 folks over. It started out at our home because we had the youngest children, but those kids are now 25 and 27 years old. So, I've passed the torch onto my cousin who has little ones 4 and 6 years and she has the most room in her home. Soo, my children had a fit when they found out that we are not hosting Christmas. Now mind you that neither of them live in Cleveland and one is getting married next year. So Christmas will be forever different as grandkids come etc. So I wish to each of you a blessed Christmas.

Merry Christmas, Abena. Congrats on getting your new blog. For me, especially this year, Christmas celebrates the birth of a precious child. No one knew all the things He would be or accomplish when He was born, but He was/is our Savior, our reason for living. I can't imagine my life without Jesus. Blessings to you and your family.

I will be back to comment on this tomorrow. My answer is going to be long-winded!

I have to get the children ready for school! It is 6:36 am Texas time.

But so far, I am proud. I have read your 2006 posts. I thought your blog would be longer since you have been lock for 43 months (how many years is that?) It appears as if you lost your other blog or something like that. Well, I am glad you are providing the information you are providing.

Thank you, and I will be back tomorrow!

RJQueen,

thank you for taking the time to read my blog all the way through. I am glad the information is helpful. Yes, I did have another blog that I accidently deleted, I was so distraught. But starting this new one enabled me to improve it even more, I had only had my other one for less than a year anyway. My locks are 3 years 8 months old and I did not start my first blog until last year. So you missed some information, but as I am working on this blog I keep in mind the things I had on my last blog that was helpful and I have been re-posting---like the Sisterlock Quiz and my post, throughout the years with Sisterlocks etc.

Christmas is my favorite time of the year. It is Jesus's Birthday! My Christmas tradition is to put up and decorate (now with the help of my 4 year old twins and 8 year old neice) our 7 foot tall Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving.

Over the last 3 years I have been learning how to make all of the family Christmas meal recipes. I learned my mama's stuffin', giblet gravy, sweet potato pie and that is all you really need right there, with pecan pie of course. I learned how to make a Chess Pie for my husband. I don't like whole Turkey so I make Ham, or Chicken, anything but Turkey. So we have lots of food.

On Christmas day, our family wakes up early get dress and hurry to church so we can have a seat. Our church is packed out on Thanksgiving and Christmas, and New Years and well everyday we are open, even on the holidays. We usually start fellowshipping around 8:30 am and we start praise worshipping around 10:00 am until we are out, usually by noon. The environment is so anointed you don’t even pay attention to the time. The most awesome thing is we gave God and Jesus His time first, before we did anything else that day.

We agree with our Pastor, “Of all days the church should be open, Thanksgiving and Christmas, it is closed. The Church of all places should be OPEN!”

Choosen Vessel, my post was not as long as I thought it would be. But it felt good to write what, Christmas means to me. Thanks for redoing your blog again, even though you accidently deleted the first one. I am enjoying this.

Christmas is also my favorite time of the year. To celebrate the birth of christ who made every moment of our lives possible, the gift to be gifted. One of our favorite things to do as a family around Christmas is that we exchange gifts that we called generic gifts. What we do is go to the thrift store and find a nice designer gift or real nice gift and wrap it in newspaper, paper bag or the funnies. Because a few of us our real gifted in finding really nice gifts, we look forward to the generic gift and love it more than the regular store brought gifts. So by the time Christmas comes we have a lot of fun things with no pressure on buying just using our talents God gifted us with.
