Braid-Out at 43 months Sisterlocked

I was on Creyole's blog and I really liked her braid-out, so I thought I would try it again. I used to wear braid-outs all of the time when my hair was shorter but then I started to wear the twist-out because it took to dang long to braid my hair and I also believe the twist is less harsh on my hair. Now that I have more length, I really like the look of the braid-out. So now I have another style to try every once in a while when I have a couple of hours to set aside and braid my hair all over after I wash it.

The post below this one was a twist-out. I did the same thing as I did with the braid-out except instead of 20-30 single braids all over my head I did 12-15 single twist. Notice how the twist-out gives a loose wavy look while the braid-out gives a tigther wavy look. Just an observation. One major bonus with the braid-out is that it lasts much longer than the twist-out. My twist-out started having a limpy look by day 2, while the braid-out is still going strong at day 4, actually as the days go by with the braid-out it looks nicer because the hair falls a little better as the wave loosens.

TIP: One thing my loctician told me is when I do the braid-out to use lock butter or hair oil on my fingers as I braid each braid because it moisturizes the hair and it causes less strain on the hair which can stress locks....(I use Carol's Daughter Lock Butter and Tui Hair Oil)

Your braid out looks great. The twist out gives a subtle wavy look but it looks great. I can't wait unitl I can do the same.

Either way looks terrific. I think the twist out looks nice for an evening out. The braid out last longer so I am sure that is a hard decision. Your hair looks so healthy what is your care regimen ? I am sure you probably following a healthful diet too. Any information will be appreciated. I currently am waiting for my locks to mature. 3 month anniversary today ! I just realized that sorry... time does fly

Your hair is so beautiful. Both styles are great and suit you, but the braid out is my favorite. I have still yet to try, as I am lazy and after doing one thought of the tension that would come after a head full of braids. Yikes.

I love them both as well. I've tried this braid out technique and all I get is more body that lasts for one day. I need length, more length.

You really echoed my sentiments about the braid out vs twist. I love the look, but braiding takes too much time and I sometimes worry if I'm straining my locks; that said, it still gives a great look, that lasts longer. You look fantastic!

Cashana-Thanks. Enjoy every stage of your locks....explore :)

Sonia-Thanks for the compliments! My hair regimen is very simplistic, which means I do the bare minimal, that is one of the reasons I wanted to get locks. But here it goes.....1. I do have a fairly healthy diet, with some cheating here and there. 2. After I wash my hair I always use the following products througout the week a. Infusium23 spray (it is a leave-in conditioner) b. Sisterlock moisterizing cream c. Sisterlock moisterizing spray d. Carol's Daughter Tui Oil f. Carol's Daugter lock butter. These are all of the products I can't live without. The Carol's Daughter Tui Oil gives my hair a nice sheen without being greasy. I hope this helps.

Mel- Thanks!

Creyole-Thank you! I am with ya, it is now my favorite look for me until I get the exploring bug again and maybe find something else :)

jamakared- Thanks for the compliments! I can understand how you feel that way because it is work that I know I will not be doing every week, maybe once a month.

Tanya- Thanks! I know what you mean, when my hair was about your length it was harder for me to maintain the braid-out, and it was much harder to braid my hair in a way so that it would hold, so I figured I would wait until it got a little longer. *Just a few more months and you will be able to work it gurlllll!

Tammy- Thanks!

Leighann- Thanks! So you know exactly what I mean, that is why I will wear the braid-out less often than the twist-out because I want to make sure my locks stay healthy and strong. One thing my loctician told me is when I do the braid-out to use lock butter or oil on my fingers as I braid each braid because it moisturizes the hair and it causes less static on the hair which can stress locks....Just tip :)

Sony- Thanks! (he,he).
